Breaking News: Agreements on GHG emission reduction

A great progress has already been achieved at the beginning of the climate talks: The international community agreed to define the year 2015 as the peak year for global greenhouse gas emissions respecting the CBDR. After a long debate with particularly strong concerns from China, the negotations led to an agreement on the peak year.
An equally heated debate was going on about the annual 3% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions after the peak year, but the delegates were able to set important milestone: They agreed to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by 80% until 2050 (with 1990 as base year). In the implementation process, special attention will be paid to the islands and nations in danger.
